Garden Mischief

So, we almost I say almost have the digging to the center of the earth issue under control, but now, blossoming flowers and plants seem to be an irresistible treat. It does seem to be an issue with Boxers. In all the years I have had dogs I have never known any to love plants the way these guys do. It does test ones resolve to stick with the ideology of positive reinforcement training techniques when you see the destruction of beautiful flowers. However, I will resist the temptation to punish and try to stop the behavior using a deterrent like bitter apple spray. Still waiting for the doggy septic tank:) It should  be here some time today--hoping so.

This Sunday Bruno is set to graduate from the intermediate training with what I hope will be flying colors:)If he doesn't you know whose fault that will be. He has done a great job with heel walking and being much more calm with the meet and greet manners. He has learned to stay in a certain spot and wait for me to return. Gradually I am leaving him for longer stays. Both are getting much better at waiting where I leave them. This will be harder of course when I add distractions to the mix----------they are still very young and react with curiosity to spontaneous movement such as fluttering leaves or a cheeky chip monk running by---wish me luck with that exercise:) Determined these guys are going to make it into the magical world of therapy dogs for children who have extraordinary challenges in life. They continue to be the best therapy for life's stresses I have ever had------except for the FLOWER CHOMPING THING! LOL
